What is swim lesson prep?

Swim lesson prep helps your child get ready for formal swim lessons by learning basic water skills and becoming comfortable putting their face in the water. This step is often the most challenging and time-consuming part of learning to swim. By focusing on comfort and confidence first, a prep class sets your swimmer up for a more positive and successful lesson experience.

What are the benefits of swim lesson prep?

Prep can save time, money, and tears. Many swim lessons move slowly at the beginning because children need time to feel safe and relaxed in the water. By working on these skills ahead of time, your child can start lessons feeling more confident and ready to learn.

Wavy Swim Lesson Prep includes 3 children’s books that will supplement the prep classes!

If you have a pool at home, we can complete this prep in your own pool before starting mobile swim lessons. In late Winter and early Spring, we can get a head start by prepping in your bathtub so your child will be ready to go as soon as it warms up!

If you don’t have pool access, these skills can be practiced in the comfort of your own bathtub. This prep course supports your child no matter where you choose to take swim lessons, or even if you plan to begin teaching them on your own. With swim lesson prep, there’s no need to spend time driving to a swim school before your child is truly ready. It’s a gentle, flexible way to build confidence and create a smoother start to your child’s swimming journey.
